Hinds Hospice Center of Grief and Loss

After the death of a loved one, the support system of Hinds Hospice does not end. Our social workers and bereavement counselors are here to help and guide the bereaved through their grief and mourning.

Hinds Hospice has provided bereavement services for many years to family members of hospice patients. Over the last several years, however, requests for support and counseling began coming from community members in Fresno, Madera and Merced counties. With all of the referrals and requests, it became apparent that the need for grief support in our community is very great. Based on the needs expressed, and our belief that bereavement services are so important to the grieving process, we have developed the Hinds Hospice Center for Grief and Loss to provide services to individuals and families who are mourning a loss.

For those grieving the death of a loved one, we offer the following supportive care programs: monthly letters and articles which provide support and grief education, telephone support, individual and family counseling by licensed grief counselors, grief support groups and grief education presentations and resources for organizations and schools.

Part of the Center for Grief and Loss is the Angel Babies/Bebitos Angelitos program whose mission is to comfort, support and uphold the dignity of families whose babies have a life-limiting condition or whose baby has died. Please click here for more information on this special program.

Support Group Information-

The spring session of our grief support groups is now closed. The summer session will begin the week of June 17 and will run for 8 consecutive weeks.  Please click here for more information.

The Subsequent Pregnancy support group meets the 3rd Monday of the Month from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the Hinds Hospice Angel Babies office in Fresno: 1616 W. Shaw, Ste. B7, (NW corner of Shaw and Teilman between Fruit and West). This group is designed for Moms who are pregnant following a loss. We know that a subsequent pregnancy can bring up many emotions and that it can be helpful to meet and connect with other moms who are in a similar situation.
